SW News: In the USA, Senators James Lankford and Steve Daines hailing from the Republican Party introduced a resolution on Thursday to commemorate the second anniversary of the inking of the Geneva Consensus Declaration. In the resolution, they urged the Joe Biden administration to once again add the USA to the coalition so as to defend the unborn, the family as well as sovereignty.

In the resolution, Lankford said, “Oklahomans know that every life is precious, and signing onto the Geneva Consensus Declaration Resolution signifies that the US supports promoting women’s health and strengthening families.” He added saying, “It is embarrassing that the United States would surrender its moral leadership on the international stage, but this resolution affirms the United States’ commitment to protect life and uphold families.”

On the other hand, Daines said that the Geneva Declaration was not “just a piece of paper”. He said it was a family of “national anchored in the universal principles of life, family and national sovereignty.”

He said that the withdrawal of President Biden from the pact did not in any way affect the commitment of the country to protect the sanctity of life and family. Daines urged the president to rethink his decision and rejoin the Geneva pact.

“Protecting the most vulnerable among us is an all-hands-on-deck battle and together we can work towards a future that recognizes the dignity of every life, everywhere.”

The event was noticed for the presence of several foreign dignitaries, US legislators and delegates from NGOs. It was organized by the Institute for Women’s Health.

It was in 2020 that the USA hosted the inking of the Geneva Consensus Declaration. As many as 35 countries signed the pact. However, the USA withdrew from it when the Biden administration came to power.
