US and other nations sign a pact to minimize risks of AI

Washington DC:
In a bid to minimize the risks presented by Artificial Intelligence (AI), the USA and other countries signed a deal to collaborate on the same. The Bletchley Declaration was signed by 28 states and they include China and members of the EU apart from the USA.
"We encourage all relevant actors to provide context-appropriate transparency and accountability on their plans to measure, monitor and mitigate potentially harmful capabilities and the associated effects that may emerge, in particular to prevent misuse and issues of control, and the amplification of other risks," says the declaration
The global community has been analyzing the obvious and emerging risks of AI by comparing it with its "untold benefits" as expounded by King Charles III of the UK. Identifying AI safety risks and constructing risk-based policies across countries to ensure safety are the two key points of the Declaration.
Both Washington DC and London have announced the establishment of institutes that pursue the above-mentioned objectives. On Friday last week, the British Institute said it would become a potential international hub for global cooperation on safe development. It will also join hands with leading AI firms, including ones in Singapore and America to mitigate potential risks.
It will "carefully test new types of frontier AI before and after they are released to address the potentially harmful capabilities of AI models, including exploring all the risks, from social harms like bias and misinformation, to the most unlikely but extreme risk, such as humanity losing control of AI completely."
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has also pledged close to $500 million toward the AI sector to give a boost to the development efforts of the country. This is a major increase of its $125 million investment plan to have new computer chips.
