Pedophiles could use artificial intelligence to sexually abuse children: UK study

SW News: A recent study found that the use of artificial intelligence has made it simpler for predators to sexually abuse children and more difficult for law enforcement to hold these offenders accountable.
Approximately 680 to 830,000 individuals in the UK are a sexual risk to children, according to the National Crime Agency, the primary law enforcement body in the country.
In a recent address, NCA Director General Graeme Biggar remarked that the organization had emphasized how the figure is roughly 10 times the prison population and noted that it serves as an example of the perils of the internet. Due to the internet, sexual predators can readily access or distribute movies and photographs of child sexual abuse. The Internet Watchdog Foundation called for the implementation of stronger online safeguards in response to NCA’s report.
A few of the online platforms continue to provide predators with a way to initiate contact with children, enabling opportunities for grooming, online child sexual abuse and physical abuse.
Some of the victims in these sextortion cases have been kids, and the FBI issued a warning in June about how bad actors may use AI to modify photographs or videos of people to make them appear more sexual. Sextortion is a crime that involves using sexually graphic images or recordings to control a victim.
The victims frequently aren't aware that someone has altered their likeness and posted it online, according to the FBI. In addition, the agency highlighted a 463% rise in recorded sextortion instances between 2021 and 2022, pointing out that AI has made it simpler for predators to take advantage of victims.
