SW News: Catholic bishops in the United States are extending an invitation to believers as well as neo-converts to discover the truth, beauty and the goodness of the Holy Mass during this Easter season. They are releasing a new set of meditations every Thursday from Divine Mercy Sunday to Pentecost, which will be from April 13 until May 25.
As part of the National Eucharistic Revival, the Catholic prelates have brought out this seven-series meditation entitled “Beautiful Light: A Paschal Mystagogy”. Notable American Catholic orators and theologians will speak on the divine mystery of the Mass in this series. In a communique, National Eucharistic Revival spokesperson Sr Alicia Torres said, “At every age and stage of life, Jesus invites us to discover the joy of friendship with him. For Catholics, this happens in a most special way during Mass — the source and summit of the Christian life.’”
She said that many believers have not had the opportunity to find the beauty and mystery of Holy Mass to which God constantly invites. The objective of this series is to provide the faithful with a chance to probe the Easter season more deeply.
There are seven Catholic writers and thinkers who will be providing the reflections over a period of seven weeks. The first reflection will be given by Archbishop Charles Thompson of Indianapolis and it will be on sacrifice. A member of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, Sr Maria Miguel Wright will speak on praise and thanksgiving.
The third meditation will be given by noted biblical scholar Jeff Cavins and it is on the universal call to sanctity. Archbishop James Peter Sartain of Seattle will provide his reflections on Jesus who loves souls.
Archbishop Timothy Broglio, the head of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops will pen his thoughts on the paschal mystery. Fr Harrison Ayre, a noted theologian and podcaster will offer his reflections on the communal character of the Church. Katley Javier, the adult formation and Hispanic catechesis coordinator of the Archdiocese of Washington will round up the series with a meditation on the joy of Trinitarian adoration.
