SW News: US Catholic priest Fr Mike Schmitz has encouraged people to watch the recently released anti-human trafficking movie ‘Sound of Freedom.’ The film is inspired by the life of Tim Ballard, a former Special Agent for the Department of Homeland Security.
In an Ascension Presents video posted to YouTube on July 20 titled "Fr. Mike Schmitz Reviews "Sound of Freedom" Movie," Fr. Schmitz, who is known for his YouTube videos and podcasts, recounted Tim Ballard's decision to quit his job with the support of his wife to rescue children from sex traffickers and encouraged people to “check out" the movie. "I do not think it will be a waste of your time, and I do not think it will be a waste of your money," he said.
At the end of the video, Fr Schmitz asked the viewers to pray for the victims of trafficking. The video has garnered around 475,000 views on YouTube.
Last week, 'Sound of Freedom' starring Jim Caviezel of The Passion of the Christ fame surpassed the $100 million mark at the US box office. The movie, produced by Mexican actor Eduardo Verástegui, was released in around 2,500 theaters across the United States on July 4. The director of the movie is Alejandro Gómez Monteverde. Verástegui, who is a devout Catholic, also plays an important role in the film. The distribution rights of the movie belong to Angel Studios.
