SW News: Twitter CEO Elon Musk has tweeted his support for Mexican actor-producer Eduardo Verastegui’s movie “Sound of Freedom”, which exposes child trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children. The billionaire wrote on Twitter on June 14 saying, “I recommend putting it on this platform for free for a brief period or just asking people to subscribe to support.”

The movie is based on a true story and it details the travails of a man to combat child sex trafficking. It is about former US Department of Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard who lost his job after he embarked on a mission to rescue children from human trafficking, which is another version of modern-day slavery. “Sound of Freedom” is slated for release on July 4, the American Independence Day.

“Sound of Freedom” stars “The Passion of the Christ” fame Jim Caviezel, Oscar winner Mira Sorvino of “The Final Cut”, Bill Camp of “12 Years a Slave” and Jose Zuniga of “Twilight”. Verastegui does a cameo in the movie and it is directed by Alejandro Monteverde of “Bella” and “Little Boy” fame. The trailer of the movie says, “God’s children are not for sale.” Verastegui and the cast hope that at least two million people will go to movie theaters on July 4 and the number stands for the two million children who are being exploited at present.

In a recent interview with Christian Post, Verastegui said he wanted to bring the movie to as many people as possible to enable them to stand up against human trafficking. He also made it clear that he has pledged his life to combat child trafficking. “It is dangerous? Yes! But it is more dangerous not to do it. So, at the end of the day, we’re going to die and we’re going to answer to God, and every day I think about this. How am I using my life?” said Verastegui.

During the interview, he said he decided to rescue children from trafficking after realizing how many of them are kept in places where government agencies lack the resources to rescue them.
