US Department of Homeland Security says there is more of a threat to churches, law enforcement ahead of 2024 elections

SW News: American citizens have received a warning from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) saying there is now more of a threat to churches, schools, federal installations and law enforcement before the 2024 presidential election. The department has also warned that legislative or judicial decisions with regard to socio-political issues could also result in violence.
As per the national terrorist advisory of Homeland Security, the threat factor is not going to abate anytime soon. DHS has warned of attacks by domestic and foreign terror outfits on targets such as faith institutions, places of worship, racial minorities, law enforcement and members of the homosexual community.
To prove the seriousness of the threat, the department cited a series of violent incidents that took place recently, including attacks on a Christian school in the state of Tennessee, a Texas shopping center and a white supremacist plot to bomb a church in Ohio. This was mentioned in a recent bulletin issued by the department.
It says, the "United States remains in a heightened threat environment. Small groups and lone offenders who are motivated by a variety of ideologies and personal grudges continue to constitute a deadly threat to the Homeland.”
The bulletin also refers to the attack on an under-construction police training center in Atlanta by anarchists. It says that more than 20 people from across America are facing terror-related charges in connection with the attack on the facility. They are accused of hurling rocks and Molotov cocktails at police.
As per the memo, there are also recommendations for preventing such attacks and they include public-private partnerships that train community leaders to spot potential radicals and one that is hardening soft targets in faith-based institutions.
President of the Houston National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Bishop James Dixon said, “I'm not shocked. The tension is real, and we can feel it. We are unfortunately becoming a polarized community of this group versus that group, and it only takes one idiot to respond to that level of hatred and we get a mass shooting. Words matter and what people are voicing in their political views means something. We are now watching the erosion of civil discourse and we’ve got to revise that.”
He said it was imperative to get people with diverging views and values to come to the negotiating table and find points of common interest and seek ways to achieve them without violence.
