SW News: Prominent US pro-life activist Lauren Muzyka was named ‘Pro-Life Woman of the Year’ by the Pro-Life Women’s Conference in Indianapolis. Muzyka is the president and CEO of the anti-abortion outfit Sidewalk Advocates for Life (SAFL).
Muzyka was given the award for her role in saving 4,500 babies every year by providing sidewalk counselling to women who seek an abortion. She said that her Catholic faith played a major role in her work as a pro-life leader.
Muzyka’s SAFL’s mission is, "To train, equip, and support local communities across the United States and the world in 'sidewalk advocacy'- to be the hands and feet of Christ, offering loving, life-affirming alternatives to all present at the abortion center, thereby eliminating demand and ending abortion."
She said that each and every human life that comes into existence is made in the image and likeness of God and said that “it helps you to realize what's at stake in the abortion battle and in the pro-life movement as a whole”. “So, it's beautiful and motivating to know that every single eternal soul who crosses our paths at the abortion facility has a story,” she added.
Abby Johnson, a pro-life advocate, and the conference founder, presented Muzyka with the award at the close of the conference. She accepted the award on behalf of all of the “saintly sidewalk advocates,” and said that she was humbled by the “incredible honor.”
Muzyka expressed gratitude to God at the presser and said that these moments would live in her heart forever. She concluded by inviting “anyone who has the heart to reach mothers in crisis” and said that any individual who advocates for life-affirming pregnancy services could make an “incredible difference”.
