SW News: Archbishop William Goh of the Archdiocese of Singapore has ordained four deacons to the Order of the Presbyterate. The ceremony took place on September 14, 2020, at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd.
The newly ordained priests are Fr. Emmanuel Teo Ming Ti OCD, Fr. Justin Yip Jian Wei, Fr. Mark Ma Shuai CDD and Fr. Luke Zhang Weigang CDD.
In his Facebook post, Archbishop Goh stated that he felt sad that the newly ordained priests could not have a grand liturgical celebration due to the pandemic restrictions.
He said that priesthood was an invitation to “share in the self-emptying of Jesus on the cross, to be stripped of one’s attachments, even legitimate enjoyments and an inflated ego, so that we find our true joy in selfless and humble service, often unrecognized and even unappreciated.”
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore has 32 churches and oversees a congregation of 360,000 Catholics. Most Rev William Goh, the 4th archbishop of the Archdiocese of Singapore, was appointed in the year 2013.
