SW News: The National Coordinator of 40 Days for Life campaign in Spain Nayeli Rodriguez has made an appeal to pro-life supporters on WhatsApp to make video or audio records of their prayer in front of abortion facilities to avoid being harassed by law enforcement authorities.

She made this appeal after a meeting with delegates of the pro-life outfit and legal experts. They also evaluated the guidelines drafted last year regarding prayer vigils in spite of repressive measures by the socialist government. The instructions help pro-lifers conduct vigils near abortion clinics in such a manner that there is no room for any complaint to be raised by the employees of such facilities or the police.

Several audio clips were circulated by Rodriguez after the meeting on WhatsApp urging activists to record their prayer sessions in order to tackle those who try to harass them. “Please, it’s essential that as soon as you arrive at your prayer station you turn on the mobile phone’s camera and keep it going during the entire prayer time,” she appealed to pro-life supporters.

She explained that it was essential to do so as there could be unpredictable events and when they take place, perhaps there would not be enough time to turn on the mobile phone recorder. Rodriguez repeatedly appealed to everyone to record the entire prayer session for their safety.

Rodriguez also told the activists the measures to be taken if police officers seek their identification details. She told them via WhatsApp that each time officers demand their ID and mobile number, they have to question the cops as to why they are asking for the information and what they are going to do with it. She also told them that they had the liberty to refuse to divulge the mobile number.

It was in April last year that the socialist government made changes to the criminal code by penalizing those who pray in front of abortion clinics or counsel mothers who seek an abortion. Violators could face imprisonment of three months to one year or community service of 31 to 80 days.
