SW News: Russia cautioned Western nations they would be taking “colossal risks” if they gave Ukraine F-16s. This was in response to the United States stating at the Group of Seven or G7 conference in the Japanese city of Hiroshima that it would permit allies to provide Ukraine with fighter jets, including F-16s.

White House National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan told reporters about the planned supplies but did not give a specific date due to security concerns. “As the training of fighter pilots unfolds in the coming months, we will work with our allies to determine when planes will be delivered, who will be delivering them, and how many,” he said.

Russia cautioned the West they would be taking “colossal risks” if they gave the F-16s. Moscow has already bombarded the nation with missiles and drones in recent days. On Saturday, the leader of the Russian mercenary company Wagner said his troops had taken full control of the eastern city of Bakhmut while Kyiv asserted that fighting had continued.

President Zelensky had arrived at the G7 after a brief visit to Saudi Arabia, where he pleaded with the Arab leaders to assist Kyiv's efforts to put an end to the war and aid Ukraine in liberating the peninsula and other areas.

In response to Saudi's offer to mediate the military conflict, Zelensky commended them and said, "We already have good experience with Saudi Arabia on the return of our citizens taken by Russia. We could broaden this experience.”

Saudi Arabia earlier this year committed $400 million in aid to Ukraine and supported UN resolutions urging Russia to stop its invasion and refrain from taking Ukrainian land. Zelensky referenced Iran, which provided Russia with "kamikaze" or "killer" drones used in Ukraine and Syria, which openly supports Russia's incursion.

G7 leaders decided to provide Ukraine with further military assistance while also acknowledging Russia's war of aggression had resulted in an energy crisis.

In a concluding statement, G7 leaders said they would achieve a common goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 by speeding up the use and search of clean energy.

Meanwhile, former Chinese ambassador to Moscow and special representative for Eurasian affairs Li Hui arrived in Ukraine with a mission to promote a political solution to the war that has been ravaging Ukraine for more than a year.

After Kyiv, the Chinese diplomatic mission will also visit Poland, France, Germany, and Russia. After meeting with the Chinese representative, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated that Kyiv considers Beijing's participation important, but reiterated that Kyiv will reject any proposal that violates "territorial integrity."
