SW News: Ukraine’s capital Kyiv said that Saudi Arabia will host a Ukrainian-organized peace summit to find a solution to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Andriy Yermak, the chief of the Ukrainian presidential office, stated that the negotiations would take place in Saudi Arabia but did not specifically mention Jeddah as the destination.
He claimed that the Ukrainian Peace Formula contains ten fundamental points that will assist in stopping Russia's invasion of Ukraine. They will not only ensure peace for Ukraine but also create mechanisms to counter future conflicts in the world.
Ukraine said the restoration of territorial integrity, the departure of Russian forces, and the release of all prisoners are included in the 10-point peace formula. It also contains security assurances for Ukraine and a court to try those responsible for the invasion.
Shortly after visiting Saudi Arabia to propose stronger cooperation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky received news of the peace summit there. “Regarding the liberation of our colleagues who were taken prisoner by Russia, we already had good experiences with Saudi Arabia. He said this experience can be used.
Zelensky also pleaded with Arab leaders to aid those living in Russian-occupied areas, such as the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow annexed in 2014. "A noble call to help protect our people, including the Ukrainian Muslim community," he said in May at an Arab summit in Saudi Arabia.
The Crimean Tatars have long been and should continue to be a vital and powerful element of the global Muslim community. However, these Crimean people were the first to experience the effects of the Russian occupation. The majority of persons who have been suppressed in the occupied Crimea up until this point are Muslims, the president emphasized.
Other peace initiatives have been proposed during the war. Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, just ended talks with African leaders regarding their proposed peace plan in St. Petersburg. Additionally, Pope Francis and China have been working independently. Numerous times, the pope has pleaded for peace in Ukraine, the scene of thousands of fatalities and injuries.
