SW News: At least 10 people were killed as Russian missiles hit civilian buildings in an overnight attack Tuesday in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih. Governor Serhiy Lysak of the region said the strike involved cruise missiles hitting a five-story building. He added that 28 people were injured and are hospitalized. The rescuers are continuing to save people trapped under the rubble.

The destruction in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's hometown is the most recent act of violence in Ukraine after the Russian invasion of the Eastern European nation in February 2022. The Ukrainian forces are fighting to drive out the Russians from their homeland. As per the images shared by Zelenskyy, firefighters were battling the blaze as pockets of fire poked through numerous smashed windows of the destroyed structure.

Several other parts of Ukraine, including Kharkiv, were also targeted during the attacks. The shelling in the region wounded two civilians.

With the latest attack, the hardship of people in this area has worsened. This town is just a half-hour drive from the vast reservoir emptied last week by the destruction of a dam that flooded much of southern Ukraine.

Although it has carried out missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities, Moscow denies intentionally targeting Ukrainian civilians.

The latest attacks come as Kyiv unleashed a long-awaited counteroffensive to recapture territory held by Russian troops.
