SW News: The hugely viral Asbury phenomenon in which a praise and worship session on a Christian university campus in the United States went on uninterrupted for days at a stretch is now crossing the borders and moving into Europe. Following weeks of preparation, the prayer initiative entitled Alabanza 24 Horas will take place on March 25 in the Parish of the Dominican friars of Alcobendas.

It will be a 4-hour session of praise and worship before the Blessed Sacrament and the organizers hope it will go on uninterrupted for a month. There will be 12 teams in charge of the worship session and there will be music as well. It is being organized by the Dominican community and its prior.

The event is the brainchild of Adolfo Alustiza and Juan Luis Vazquez after they came to know of the incident in Kentucky, USA, that went viral on social media. Speaking to Spanish Catholic website religionenlibertad.com, Alustiza said, "This time it was spontaneously lengthening and has lasted more than a month. They broadcast it on their YouTube channel and anyone could connect to see that 'revival'. We were moved and raised the question, why not also something like this in Spain? And we let ourselves be done, if it was from God it would be confirmed, if not, no.”

When they shared the idea of a worship session with the Dominicans of Alcobendas, they consented and agreed to hand over the church for the event. As many as 12 musical groups also agreed to be part of the event.

According to Alustiza, the praise and worship session is an act of the Holy Spirit at a time when there are increasing attacks on the Catholic faith in the country. It will help people discover the need to have the intervention of the Holy Spirit in daily life.

"It is always good to pray for the revival of the faith in Spain. While it is true that we live in times where public life and legislation go against the natural order in a particularly intense way, it is also true that we believe and trust in the power of praise and lordship of Jesus Christ as the only King and Lord", he said.
