SW News: A film on St Teresa of Calcutta, popularly known as Mother Teresa,  will be premiered in the United States on October 3 and 4. Entitled “Mother Teresa: No Greater Love”, the movie portrays the life of the 20th-century saint who traveled across the streets of Calcutta and cared for the unwanted and the sick.

“Mother Teresa: No Greater Love” is produced by the Knights of Columbus, the world’s largest Catholic fraternal order, and it will be shown in more than 960 locations across the US.

The flick depicts the life of the saint and the influence Mother Teresa and her congregation, the Missionaries of Charity, made on the people they have served in the world. The nuns concentrated on serving the destitute and downtrodden people including those abandoned children.

“The Missionaries of Charity are not publicity seekers,” said David Naglieri, the director of the film. “So, to have the opportunity to highlight the incredible work they do and the way that they live the Gospel, I think this story can positively impact people’s lives and draw them closer to their faith,” he continued.

The movie also covers the spiritual dryness experienced by the saint in her life and her encounters with the poor. It also focuses on St Teresa’s friendship with St. John Paul II.

Comments from people in some way associated with the saint’s life are also incorporated in the film. It also includes bytes from Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly of the Knights of Columbus; Bishop Robert Barron of Winona-Rochester; Jim Wahlberg, a filmmaker who embraced the Catholic faith because of Mother Teresa; Jim Towey, a friend of the saint; Father Brian Kolodiejchuk, the postulator of Mother Teresa’s cause for canonization; and Father Donald Haggerty of the Archdiocese of New York.

The movie is part of Fathom Events’ “Saint Series”, a series of movies that reflect on the life of saints.

Mother Teresa was born on August 26, 1910, in an ethnic Albanian family in Skopje, the capital of the Republic of Macedonia. She joined the congregation of the Sisters of Loretto at the age of 17 and founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950 in Kolkata, India.

Producer and writer, David Naglieri and Postulator, Fr. Brian Kolodiejchuk, discuss their upcoming docu-film ‘ Mother Teresa: No Greater Love’ with host, Joelle Maryn on Shalom World's ‘Beyond the Vision on Sunday, October 2nd at 9:30 PM ET/BST/IST/AEDT. Watch its trailer here:
