Christian Association of Nigeria urges new President to prioritize security concerns, economic struggles

SW News: The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the largest ecumenical outfit of Christians, is urging the new President to prioritize the security concerns and the economic struggles of the people in the country. Furthermore, the entity's President is appealing to the country's new leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu to cooperate with all Nigerians, regardless of their political, racial, or religious affiliations.
Rev. Daniel Okoh, the president of CAN, cites several challenges the Nigerians face and where they need strong and decisive leadership. "From security concerns to economic struggles, it is clear that there is much work to be done to ensure Nigeria can reach its full potential," he said.
The priest also implored President Tinubu to work tirelessly to find lasting solutions that would enhance the standard of living for the citizens of the West African nation.
Challenging the new leader to engage the active participation of all citizens, Fr Okoh is calling for unity and solidarity in the country. Congratulating the new President, the priest added, "This is a momentous occasion for Nigeria, and we wish President Tinubu well as he takes on the responsibilities of leading our great nation."
Tinubu inaugurated the Presidency on Monday, May 29. However, the opposition leaders challenged his victory in the court. Nigeria's electoral agency, the Independent National Electoral Commission, announced the presidential election's victory on March 1. The election commission declared that Tinubu received higher votes than his competitors. However, the results were not published, confusing the citizens.
Meanwhile, despite the ongoing lawsuit, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Abuja expressed his concern over Tinubu taking office.
