3 killed, 5 injured in mass shooting at USA's Michigan State University

SW News: At least three students were killed and five others were injured in a mass shooting on the Michigan State University (MSU) campus in the United States on Tuesday. The armed man then shot himself in the head and died. Campus police identified the shooter as 43-year-old Anthony Dwayne McRae, giving thanks to the community for their help.
Bishop Earl Boyea of Lansing, Michigan expressed his condolences in a tweet saying that it is “a dreadfully dark day in East Lansing. May the love of Almighty God restore health to the injured; sustain those caring for them; bestow solace on those who mourn and eternal rest to those who were killed. The Catholic community is praying that they rest in peace.”
All classes — virtual and in-person — were canceled, as are athletic events and all other campus activities for at least 48 hours. Counseling and Psychiatric Services and the Employee Assistance Program will make their services available in the coming days.
In a statement following the tragedy, Michigan Governor Grethen Whitmer connected the incident to the general rise of mass shootings in the country.
The Governor wrote in her Facebook post, “Too many of us scan rooms for exits when we enter. Many have gone through the grim exercise of figuring out who would be our last call. Last night, kids at MSU made those calls. They worried for their lives, their friends, and their fellow Spartans. We can't keep living like this. As parents, we tell our kids, "It’s going to be okay" all the time. But the truth is, words are not good enough. We must act. And we will.
Let's hold the MSU and East Lansing communities close today. And let's wrap our arms around the families and friends of those we have lost, those fighting for their lives, and the countless Michiganders whose lives are forever changed by the shooting.”
She had written that “Parents across Michigan are on pins and needles calling their kids, checking in on them and telling them they love them. This is a uniquely American problem. …Spartans will cry and hold each other a little closer. We will mourn the loss of beautiful souls and pray for those fighting for their lives in the hospital.”
Whitmer also thanked the countless first responders who raced to the scene and the healthcare workers who poured into local hospitals to save lives.
