SW News: At least 20 people were injured and one killed in a shooting on Halloween night in Chicago's West Side and Kansas in the USA.
The Chicago Police Department stated that the shooting happened in the area of South California Avenue and West Polk Street. At least 14 people were injured and among them three were minors. The police said in a press conference that the injured included a three-year-old kid and two children aged 11 and 13. The rest of the victims of the shooting were adults.
Police Superintendent David Brown said that visuals from the pod camera showed that two shooters arrived in a car and opened fire on the crowd gathered at the intersection for a vigil on Halloween night.
According to the police, the shooting lasted only three seconds and no suspects were arrested. The reason behind the attack was also unclear.
In a difference of 30 minutes, eight people were shot and one was killed at a shooting in Kansas City, which happened at a Halloween house party attended by high schoolers. Police chief Karl Oakman said that the shooting was carried out by a group of uninvited people. Some members of the group started to shoot when they were asked to leave.
“This is very unfortunate. This stuff in the community has to stop,” Oakman said. “There are far too many guns out here. This was a party with high-school-age students. Like I said, everyone has guns now. We need to be smarter than this,” Oakman continued.
