SW News: The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, one of the booming religious congregations in the United States, will establish a mission in the Diocese of Gallup. This was announced by the diocese in a social media post. The Diocese chiefly serves the Native American and Hispanic communities in New Mexico and Arizona.
The post also mentioned that the sisters would be teaching at the Sacred Heart School in Gallup, which is administered by the diocese.
The canonical birth of the congregation took place when four sisters responded to Pope St. John Paul II’s "need for a new evangelization". Currently, there are over 150 sisters, with an average age of 33, serving and studying in 19 missions across the US. The sisters live out their vocation through preaching and by undertaking the teaching apostolate. They also conduct annual vocational discernment retreats helping hundreds of young women discern religious life.
The sisters also own and administer the Spiritus Sanctus Academies in Ann Arbor and Plymouth. They also launched Open Light Media, a digital apostolate to "share the truth, beauty, and goodness of God."
The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, celebrated 25 years of "radiating God’s truth into the world" in 2022.
