Christian owner of coffee shop in USA’s Colorado alleges harassment by LGBTQ, Left-wing supporters

SW News: In the American state of Colorado, the Christian owner of a coffee shop who spearheads a faith-based initiative to help the homeless has alleged that his business is being targeted by LGBTQ supporters and left-wing activists.
It was earlier this year that Jamie Sanchez launched the Drip Café to foster his mission to lend a helping hand to homeless folks. His Project Revive initiative is aimed at reaching out to people who do not have a roof over their heads and “break the chains that are holding them down”. He said the initiative provides assistance in the form of mental and spiritual counseling, financial advice and help to get a job and better housing.
He added that the Drip Café is an effort to provide jobs to those in the program. However, his enterprise is being unfairly targeted so much that supporters of the LGBTQ movement and leftist ideology gather outside shouting slogans in a bid to close down the café. The protests began in June after a statement endorsing the Biblical view of sexuality appeared on the Recycle God’s Love web portal. The protests have been continuing since then.
According to Sanchez, he tweaked the text of the statement after opening the café to place more emphasis on love and truth in a straightforward manner. He alleged that those who gather outside the establishment are accusing it of spreading homophobia and hating gay people. There was also an attempt at defacing the building and its windows were shattered.
Sanchez said that the continuous protests outside are affecting the functioning of the new café. “They show up every Saturday morning and then they also show up in a larger number on the first Fridays of each month, which is supposed to be our biggest day of sales,” he rued.
Although Sanchez tried to engage with the agitators in the beginning, he came to realize it was a futile exercise. With one of the protesters spitting on a person and a physical altercation breaking out separately, the people working in the café are petrified and so are customers. The Christian entrepreneur also alleged that a bullhorn is sometimes used to berate a person who goes into the café and there are boos as patrons are called homophobes.
Sanchez added that his group will not give up and they will continue their mission of providing succor to the poor and the needy.
