SW News: Anticipating the signing of Senate Bill 1438 by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, which is meant to keep children out of drag shows, officials have canceled the annual Miami Beach Pride Parade, Associated Press has reported. Moreover, they also restricted other pride events to people aged 21 and older.

According to the ‘Protection of Children’ bill, which is popularly known as Bill 1438, individuals who "knowingly" admit children to "adult live performances" will be penalized.

The bill describes "adult live performance" as "any show, exhibition, or any other presentation in front of a live audience which, in whole or in part, depicts or simulates nudity, sexual conduct, sexual excitement, or specific sexual activities."

The Pride Alliance of the Treasure Coast, an organization that played a primary role in organizing the pride parade over the past years, took to social media to announce the news regarding the cancellation of their event, attributing this decision to the "current political climate."

"We hope that everyone understands that this is definitely not what we wanted at all and are working with the city to assure our safety as well as produce a positive event. We have held off as long as we could in making this announcement as we were hoping it would not have to be made," they wrote in the social media post.
