SW News: Many Americans agree to have pro-life legislations aiming to assist preborn babies and pregnant women. According to a new poll by the pro-life group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, more than 77% agree with abortion bans up to 15 weeks with some limitations.
A prominent research organization, Tarrance Group, polled 1000 voters nationwide for the Susan B. Anthony group. The statistics come one year after the reversal of Roe v. Wade, removing the federal right to abortion access. According to the poll, only 15% agree with providing abortions throughout pregnancy without any limits.
It further states that nearly six in 10 voters would support Congress passing legislation to protect pain-capable babies after 15 weeks, with exceptions for the mother's life, rape, and incest, while allowing states to pass more protective laws. This group includes Democrats, Independents and women, and so-called pro-choice voters.
52% favor Congressional legislation that outlaws tax-funded abortions permanently, subjecting to some restrictions. At the same time, 64% of voters would oppose Congressional legislation that would force all fifty states to legalize abortion on demand, up until the time of birth, without any restrictions.
Regarding parental notice, 70% of respondents concur that it ought to be necessary to inform parents when a minor child wants an abortion. A majority, including 89% of Republicans, 54% of Democrats, and 65% of independent voters, supported the parental notification. Even 54% of those identifying as "pro-choice" support parental notification legislation.
Additionally, 76% of voters support pregnancy resource centers, which assist pregnant women but do not conduct abortions. Regardless of political affiliation, 87% of Republicans, 68% of Democrats, and 70% of independent voters agreed the same.
In the survey, voters were given a range of options and asked which best describes their position on the issue to which 27% of voters think abortion should be generally outlawed; 35% believe it should be permitted up until the second trimester; 14% think it should allow until the third trimester; and 14% believe it should be permitted up to delivery.
