SW News: The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend in Indiana, which has a Catholic population of just around 160000, got 7 new priests this year. The priesthood ordination of Ryan Timossi, Bobby Krisch, Brian Florin, Zane Langenbrunner, David Langford, Samuel Anderson, and Jacob Schneider, took place at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne on Saturday, June 3. It was presided over by Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades.
In 2019, Today’s Catholic, the official newspaper of the diocese, reported on the increasing number of vocations in the diocese of Fort Wayne- South Bend. “These men, our brothers, will become sacramentally identified with Jesus, the eternal high priest. Jesus will act through them every time they stand on the altar and celebrate the Eucharist,” the bishop said in his homily referring to the newly ordained priests. “From the Eucharist, the priest receives the grace and obligation to give his life in humble service to the Church,” Bishop Rhoades stated.
The ordination ceremony, which was not open to the public due to seating capacity, was livestreamed on the diocesan website. The family members, relatives, and friends of the ordinands were able to participate in the Mass in person at the cathedral. The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend was established in 1857.
