SW News: On August 10, India’s first National March for Life will be held in the national capital of New Delhi.
The event will take place from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM local time. The 2.5-kilometer (1.5 miles) prayer walk will start from Jantar Mantar, a historic landmark.
The march ends at the Sacred Heart Cathedral where Holy Mass, presided over by Delhi Archbishop Anil Couto, will be celebrated. Thereafter, pro-life organizations will be showcasing their exhibits at the hall on the premises of the Cathedral.
According to estimates, more than 15.5 million unborn babies are slaughtered in the womb through abortion in India every year. Abortion was legalized in India on August 10, 1971, with the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act (or the MTP Act).
The National March for Life is organized by CHARIS India. Sr Paulina Melite MSMI, who is a member of the aforementioned organization, told SW News that she hopes that the pro-life march will “carry on for years to come until the day the MTP Act is completely revoked just like Roe v. Wade was revoked this year.”
Various pro-life organizations will be part of the event. Prelates from across the country will also be in attendance.
The organizers are hoping that the National March for Life will spark a pan-India movement in which people unite and champion the cause of the right to life of the unborn.
