SW News: Thousands of young Catholics participated in the Rosary rally that took place in Madrid, Spain’s capital city, on February 11. They carried a statue of the Virgin Mary through the streets. Many nuns also joined the rally. The rally was organized by Rosario por la Juventud de España.
The faithful gathered at Plaza de España to pray for various intentions. Some of them were seen chanting Viva Cristo Rey which means, ‘Long Live Christ the King.’
Images of the event posted on social media have gone viral. The first such Rosary rally in Madrid was held in 2018. “To see thousands of young people united for the same purpose, to ask for the intercession of the Virgin, was wonderful,” Juan Ortega, one of the participants told SW News. “We live in difficult times. Catholics must be more united than ever in prayer,” he added.
More than 60% of Spanish people identify as Catholic.
