SW News: The annual Global Rosary Relay for the Sanctification of Priests will occur on June 16 on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Rosary Relay is the initiative of the World Priest Global Apostolate to offer prayerful support for the clergy worldwide. The organizers said that millions of faithful worldwide are expected to join the relay in its fourteenth year. They added that there will be more prayer locations for the event, now recognized as a powerful initiative within the Catholic Church to pray for the priests.

During the rosary relay, each participating prayer location country will pray a specific mystery of the Rosary at an allotted time. The relay intends to express gratitude to God for the priests and implore Our Lady's protection to all priests. With the coming of midnight on June 16, the entire world will have been encircled in prayers on this relay day.

The website has urged the Bishops to invite every priest in their diocese to gather in a Church, where they will join the Rosary. Pope Francis is expected to impart Apostolic Blessings to those participating in the rosary relay, similar to the previous years. Bishop Fintan Monahan of Killaloe of Ireland, the Episcopal Adviser to the apostolate, invited the faithful to join the rosary event. Bishop said, "I am happy to support and highly recommend the current initiative of The Annual Global Rosary Relay. I believe it has great potential and will bring many spiritual benefits to all involved".

The global rosary rally began nearly 2009, with 24 locations in 24 countries. The official website said last year recorded more than 3000 locations worldwide. Founded in 2003 by entrepreneur Marion Mulhall, World Priest was established in response to John Paul II's announcement of a World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests.
