SW News: In spite of stringent criticism from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Disney World is gunning to conduct the largest LGBTQ conference in the world this September. It was in 2019 that the entertainment company decided to host the conference this year as well as in 2024.

Disney has announced that the Out and Equal Workplace Summit will be the largest LGBTQ summit in the world with close to 5000 people participating. They include executives and HR professionals from major firms from several companies who are working to propagate the same ideology.

As per the website of the event, "Over more than 20 years, Summit has grown to become the preferred place to network and share strategies that create inclusive workplaces, where everyone belongs and where LGBTQ+ employees can be out and thrive."

Sponsors of the upcoming event include major firms such as Apple, Walmart, Amazon, McDonald’s, Uber, Hilton, Boeing, Pfizer and Google. Also partnering with this event are American agencies such as the State Department, the CIA and the FDA.

The last conference was conducted in Las Vegas and there were discussions on how to tackle anti-LGBTQ legislation in US states.

A spokesperson for Out & Equal said the organization has a "long-standing relationship" with Walt Disney World, and the summit was held there previously in 2002, 2009 and 2016. Speaking to Fox News Out and Equal chief marketing officer Michael Chamberlain said, "An agreement signed in 2019 to return to the resort in 2021 and 2024 had to be adjusted because of the pandemic. We look forward to hosting our annual forum focused on LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion in Florida - and through the hybrid nature of the event format, globally - this year and next."

The Florida Governor has been at loggerheads with Disney for the past one year
after he passed the Parental Rights in Education bill. Commonly known as the Don’t Say Gay legislation, it prevents anyone from debating sexual orientation or gender identity in the classroom before Grade IV.
