SW News: On January 31, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis explained a fresh set of suggested improvements to the state's higher education system. The eradication of all diversity, equality, and inclusion curricula as well as critical race theory is one of these changes. He was explaining this in a press meet at the State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota.

The prospective Republican presidential contender in 2024, called for a comprehensive set of reforms to "ensure higher education is founded in the ideas of liberty and Western civilization."

One of those suggestions would tighten limitations on academic tenure by giving Florida university presidents and boards additional authority to assess tenured professors "at any point" in addition to performing regular evaluations. In a comment to Ray Rodrigues, chancellor of the State University System of Florida, DeSantis suggested that university presidents should have "control over the hiring process.

"DeSantis said that he intends to create "civics institutes" in three state universities and do away with the "bureaucracies" that created the DEI and CRT curricula. "We will also remove the DEI and CRT bureaucracies in Florida," he said during the meeting. That will be lost without payment. That is crucial because it eliminates politics and ideology.

In the 1970s, critical race theory was established. "Activists and intellectuals active in studying and changing the link between race, racism, and power" make up the "movement”.

Media representatives were present during the meeting, and they were given flyers from the governor's office that said "Education, not indoctrination".

DeSantis asked Florida colleges and universities to give graduate students with degrees that lead to high-paying jobs more attention than those with degrees that are meant to help the state's political agenda.

The governor allocated $100 million for "recruitment and retention of highly educated academics at state colleges" as well as "world-class civics institutes" at Florida International University, Florida State University, and the University of Florida.

Before the March session, DeSantis and Florida's legislators shared their legislative and financial objectives.
