SW News: A US archbishop has urged the faithful to pray for the speedy recovery of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul, who was attacked by an intruder at his residence on Friday, October 28.

“Please join me in praying for the swift recovery of Paul Pelosi and comfort for his wife and family too. Mother Mary hear our prayer,” Salvatore Cordileone, the archbishop of San Francisco, said in a Twitter post.

According to Pelosi’s spokesman Drew Hammill, the 82-year-old Paul “underwent successful surgery to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hands,” at  Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital .

He added that “The Pelosi family is immensely grateful to Mr. Pelosi’s entire medical team and the law enforcement officers who responded to the assault.”

The president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Jose H. Gomez, said in a statement that he joins with Archbishop Cordileone in offering prayers for the “full recovery” of Paul Pelosi.

“I am deeply grieved over this violence, which should have no place in our communities, our political process, or our great nation,” the archbishop continued in the statement.

Archbishop Gomez concluded by seeking the intercession of Mother Mary.

42-year-old David DePape was identified by the police as the suspect in the attack.

The police said that they were working to find out the intention behind the attack.
