San Francisco’s Walk for Life draws hundreds

SW News: San Francisco pro-lifers held the 17th annual Walk for Life West Coast on January 23, 2021 to witness for life. Almost 2000 people attended the Walk.
The day took off with Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone celebrating Holy Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
In his homily, Archbishop Cordileone said, “We are here for the affirmation of the inherent dignity of all human life.” He noted that today’s culture “insists on following science and believing in science. But conveniently denies it even when the truth is staring them at their faces…They conveniently deny it when the truth becomes too inconvenient.”
Following the Mass, the attendees gathered at the Civic Center Plaza at 12:30 pm and walked down Market Street to Embarcadero Plaza. Walk for Life chaplain Fr. Joseph Fessio, S.J. and Rev. Clenard Childress addressed the crowd.
The Walk for Life first took place in 2005 and is usually held on a Saturday on or close to 22 January, the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision of the Supreme Court that legalized abortion. The mission of Walk for Life is to change the society’s perception of abortion and holds annual walks and rallies to create awareness of the harm abortion can do to women, families and societies.
