SW News: The 50th annual March for Life will take place in Washington, DC, on January 20. Hundreds of thousands of pro-life advocates are expected to throng the streets of Washington DC for the first post-Roe annual rally for life.
In the past years, pro-life supporters marched to the US Supreme Court building seeking to overturn Roe v Wade; however, this year, the organizers aiming the lawmakers will march to the US Capitol building.
The annual March for Life rally was launched in 1974 following the US Supreme Court's decision to legalize abortion across the country.
The motto for this year's rally is 'Next Steps: Marching Forward into a Post-Roe America.' It highlights the necessity for pro-life activists to continue outspokenly marching in support of the unborn on both the state and federal levels and defending for a federal standard to safeguard innocent life against radical pro-abortion legislation in the absence of Roe v. Wade.
Expressing her joy Jeanne Mancini, president of March for Life Education and Defense Fund, stated, "With Roe now behind us, we are empowered to save countless innocent American lives by continuing to advocate for commonsense protections at the state and federal level, educating Americans on the intrinsic dignity of all human life." She added that this year will be a sad reminder of the unborn killed over the past 50 years, and an occasion of joy as Americans "enter this new era in our quest to protect life."
According to their official website, the March will include keynote speeches by various distinguished guests. Jonathan Roumie, well known for his role as 'Jesus' in the series 'THE CHOSEN,' and Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch, who won the Dobbs v Jackson Women's Health Organization Case that led to the reversal of Roe v Wade, are some of the keynote speakers. Other luminaries include author cum former football coach Tony Dungy, Sister Mary Casey of Sisters of Life, and Gina Tomes, Director of the Bethlehem House Maternity.
Bishop Michael Francis Burbidge of Arlington will lead the opening prayer with Evangelist and Missionary Franklin Graham delivering the closing prayer.
