SW News: The exhibition of a hyper-realistic body of Jesus is coming to Italy's San Domenico Church. Known as 'The Mystery Man,' the exhibition will be open from August 1 until January 7. It was created with input from the Shroud of Turin.
The Mystery Man display first opened at Salamanca Cathedral in Spain and will now travel across five continents. Thousands have already visited the displays.
The website that provides information on the sculpture and exhibitions states, “This representation is the result of years of painstaking forensic research, conducted with the aim of bringing the mystery back to life from a scientific perspective.” According to the website, visiting the display is an opportunity to “Discover the overwhelming hyperrealistic sculpture based on the image of the Man in the Holy Shroud.”
The Shroud of Turin is a linen cloth that bears the image of a man who appears to have suffered physical trauma consistent with crucifixion. It is believed to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. The Shroud measures about 4.4 meters long and 1.1 meters wide and is kept in the royal chapel of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Turin, Italy.
