New York :
Catholic pro-life activist Chris Slattery has passed away at the age of 68 after battling cancer. The EMC Frontline Pregnancy Center, which he founded four decades ago in Bronx, New York, has saved around 43,000 babies from abortion, as stated on its website.
The incident that inspired Slattery to establish EMC Frontline occurred during a conversation between him and a woman outside an abortion clinic in Manhattan. The woman, originally intending to undergo an abortion, changed her mind after their discussion. EMC pregnancy centers offer “free pregnancy counseling, practical resources, postpartum support, and educational supports.”
A Boston College graduate, Slattery was also involved in providing training to pro-life activists. Shawn Carney, the president of 40 Days for Life, expressed his condolences, stating, "The great pro-life warrior Chris Slattery has gone to his eternal rest. A faithful Catholic, selfless defender of the unborn, and an Irishman with the personality to go with it." Carney added, “He brought 40 Days for Life to the Bronx in 2007 and spread it throughout NYC. We had countless memories and laughs over the years and he was cheerful until the end. Please pray for the repose of his soul as he goes Home.”
