SW News: Inmates of more than 300 prisons throughout the United States will be able to watch the immensely popular Bible-based series "The Chosen" with the help of Prison Fellowship, the largest Christian prison ministry in the country. It is working with the Come and See Foundation to bring the TV show on Jesus' life and ministry into prisons for free.

The series will reportedly be available through the Prison Fellowship's closed-circuit streaming network, Floodlight, which was launched in March 2020 to stream faith-based content in penitentiaries. According to James Ackerman, president and CEO of Prison Fellowship, he was thrilled to deliver high-quality, Gospel-centered entertainment to prisoners. And he stated that the series has been seen by around 110 million people worldwide and that he expected it to have an even bigger effect.

Angel Studios created the series, which is a reproduction of Jesus Christ's life and purpose. The seven-season crowdfunded drama will follow the lives of everyday individuals like Peter and Mary as they encounter the events of the Gospels.

Season 3 of "The Chosen" was awarded the Epiphany Prize at the Movieguide Awards, an annual Hollywood event honoring the Christian film industry, and Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus, was nominated for the greatest inspirational performance in a television series.

Season 4 production started in March 2023, according to Angel Studios' official website, and is now 19 percent financed. The first episode of the fourth season will be broadcast in 2024, although no precise date has been selected.

With its story of Jewish persecution in first-century Israel as its backdrop, "The Chosen" has become the most successfully crowdfunded media project in media history.
