SW News: Users of the Catholic app Hallow can now pray every day of Advent in 2022 with the assistance of actors from ‘The Chosen’, a popular television series that portrays the life of Christ. The joint initiative titled “Advent Feat The Chosen: #Pray25” gives individuals a chance to exercise their faith and prepare to greet Jesus once more.
Jonathan Roumie, the actor who plays Jesus, is taking part in the #Pray25 initiative, which encourages Catholics to pray every day for the next 25 days before Christmas. Previously, Roumie and Hallow worked together on a few of the app's features, and Roumie even made an appearance in a commercial. In Hallow's Advent meditations, he is one of six voices guiding the faithful.
These brief daily meditations will explain how God has called people throughout history by starting with Adam and Eve, moving on to Noah, Abraham, Moses, Ruth, David, and the prophets in the Old Testament, and concluding with the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Nativity in the New Testament.
According to a report by CNA, Roumie said, "I think it was a pretty strong inclination to try to carry this through for Advent this year, and I think people are going to be profoundly changed by it."
"I am pleased for fans to pray with their favorite characters on the show," he exclaimed.
In a press statement on Nov. 23, Hallow CEO Alex Jones said: "We've been fortunate at Hallow to partner with a lot of incredible content creators, but I don't think I've ever been happier to announce a relationship than I am today. My life has been changed by 'The Chosen', which has also brought countless millions of people closer to Christ. We are blessed to be able to travel through this Advent season with some of our favorite characters from the series in a unique praying experience.”
Hallow boasts over 4 million users who have used the app to pray over 100 million times, while ‘The Chosen’, has had more than 400 million viewers.
The Chosen, which made its debut on Christmas Eve in 2017, was created and directed by evangelical Christian Jenkins. The first season of the show earned the highest crowdfunding ever for a television series, and it was also dubbed into 56 different languages.
Meanwhile, the 2018-release Hallow brands itself as "the No. 1 Christian app in the United States" and "the No. 1 Catholic app worldwide." It can be downloaded through the App Store and Google Play.
