SW News: The Archbishop of San Francisco in the United States is urging all the clergy and lay faithful of his diocese to fast every Friday for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a memo to his priests, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone says he wants all Catholics in San Francisco to, “storm heaven with prayer and fasting” for a restoration of public worship unhindered; a swift end to the present pandemic; for health care workers and researchers; and for government officials who are making public health decisions. Last month the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, re-issued an order banning indoor events including public Masses across much of the state.
