SW News:
Although more than 3 years have passed since the three children of Laila and Danny Abdallah were killed in a horrific car crash in Sydney, Australia, not many have forgotten how they faced it with unwavering trust in God. When the couple publicly offered forgiveness to the driver, Samuel Davidson, it not only moved the hearts of thousands of Australians but also sent forth an example of Christian forgiveness to the whole world.
It was on February 1st, 2020, that Antony, Angelina, Sienna Abdallah, and their cousin Veronique Sakr died instantly when a car driven by the drugged and drunk driver rammed into the pavement they were walking on.
The Maronite Catholic couple went on to create i4give Day, celebrated on the 1st of February annually, to honor the memory of their children as well as to help those suffering from grief and bitterness.
In a recent interview given to Stand for Truth podcast, Danny Abdallah narrated how the driver, Samuel Davidson, was deeply touched by their forgiveness and experienced a conversion of heart. Danny said, “He prays the Rosary three times a day, goes to Mass, he is doing Bible study, and he wants to become a Maronite Catholic…all glory to God.” He attributes Davidson’s conversion to the intercession of his kids. “Honestly, I didn’t expect it at all…God is amazing,” said Danny.
Samuel Davidson’s prison cellmate had introduced him to Fr. Robert Pierre. But what both of them didn’t know was that Fr. Robert was the spiritual advisor of Danny Abdallah! Soon, Fr Robert visited Davidson, spoke with him and also heard his first confession. “The whole world should have hated me, but because of Danny’s and Laila’s forgiveness, I was able to see life in a different way...that’s what has changed my heart,” he reportedly said to Fr Robert.
Danny said to the podcast host, Charlie Bakhos, “As a Christian, I believe my kids are in heaven and I am happy…I have to do whatever it takes here to see them again.”
